Clothing and Suitcase Donations Needed

Clothing and Suitcase Donations Needed

We need children's clothing from ages 10 to 15 years and Suitcases with wheels, although we will accept all clothing provided its in good condition and cases without wheels.
During the children's visit we host a clothing day, where the children are allowed to have two suit cases each to fill with the donated clothes .

We have had children that arrive in just the clothes that they have on or have been made at home, we have also had children that have had to borrow clothing or shoes from family members before they travel.
The children have a great time and enjoy getting their new clothes.
In Belarus and Ukraine there is no social or Health care benefits and the cost of living is similar to the UK, this makes the social and economic conditions worst for the children and their families. Most of the children have to live day by day dealing with the social conditions that we would not except in the UK.
We have become a throwaway society, when clothes just don't fit or they are no longer in fashion, but we can use these for the Chernobyl children and rest assured that these children really appreciate them.
If you can help by collecting from your family and friends, or if you belong to church or social groups they can all help with the collecting and donating. Also schools, colleges or work colleagues can also be worth asking.

We can really use your help and this is also good for the environment as the clothes are passed to the children and therefor recycled, and they will be passed them on to brothers and sister or others that may be in their home or orphanage
Thank you for your support

STAFF at a Portsmouth firm are flying high after celebrating its 85th birthday.

Portsmouth Aviation Ltd in Airport Service Road is in its third generation of family ownership.
Staff at the mechanical and aircraft engineering company yesterday celebrated the achievement with a big birthday cake, Buck’s Fizz and a speech from managing director Simon Escott.
Mr Escott says the company continues to deliver ‘innovative, lean and best practice’ engineering solutions across a range of defence and commercial sectors.
He said: ‘Our capabilities and expertise are channelled to our growing customer base via our people and teams who consistently perform with enthusiasm, commitment and flexibility.
‘Our recent drive for global expansion has seen Portsmouth Aviation facilities established in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Canada, securing jobs both at home and abroad for the foreseeable future.
‘Our drive for excellence has led to the development of new products and new markets, including China, and our growing order book and financial status has enabled considerable new financial investment in plant and machinery at our Portsmouth facility.’
Around 90 per cent of Portsmouth Aviation’s workforce is from the Portsmouth and surrounding areas.
Apprentices from the area are also being brought on through the firm’s programme.
Mr Escott added: ‘For many years we have also provided support to our local communities through school partnerships, school aerospace challenges, and sponsorship of Clanfield Boys football team.
We are also proud to provide support to the Children of Chernobyl who visit Portsmouth every year for much deserved respite stays within our local community.
‘Our goal and drive as a local business remains to provide a thriving future for the families, friends and workforce that are Portsmouth Aviation Ltd.’

Richmond Hyundai - Supporting PHIL-CCLL

Richmond Hyundai -  Supporting PHIL-CCLL

Richmond Hyundai has sponsored one of the Chernobyl Children's visit in June 2014. The four week recuperative break, away from contaminated food, water and air that boosts their immune systems to make a real difference to their health and wellbeing.

Members of the Portsmouth & Hayling Island Link met with Managing Director, Michael Nobes and Julia Tseklova to outline the work we do for the Chernobyl Children, and they were very impressed with the support and activities the children recieve during their visit.

We have been invited back to the Farlington showroom in June with the children to meet other members of the Richmond team, and give the children a chance to meet our supporters.
